Gujarat will see 12 modern transport cities - Hon'ble CM

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today met with leading corporate leaders in Delhi today and spurred them to commit investment in Gujarat during fifth Global Investors' Summit that is scheduled in January 2011. He said that with Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Special Investment Region (SIR) projects are in pipeline, Gujarat will also see 12 modern transport cities across the state in coming days with its well-framed development policy.

350-odd leading businessmen besides office bearers of 26 foreign embassies including Senior Minister In-charges of Japan and Canadian embassy were present in the meet.

Chief Minister said that the global investors' summit is not meant to serve only as a promotion event but will be proved as an historical event as it will work as a platform for global business partnership.

He said that Gujarat is not taking the traditional route of offering various industrial incentives but rather believes in creating an excellent business environment by providing best infrastructural resources.

Shri Modi said that Gujarat coast line, now see a full fledge business activities, thanks to the development of ports through public-private-partnership. Gujarat is going to become a spotlight for European markets in coming days, he said, with the development of DMIC, SIR, GIFT city and gas-based economy.

He said that Gujarat is opening new avenues for growth with the development in the sectors like nano technology, environment technology and medical tourism.

Chief Minister said that Gujarat has adopted an approach of balanced economy and giving prime and equal importance to industries, agriculture and service sector. Within service sector, tourism will be given the highest importance, he informed.

Shri Modi said that Gujarat is also keen to partner with Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore and China.

Businessmen present in the meet showed keen interest in knowing Gujarat's approach and ideas for future development and had question-answers with Chief Minister.

Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Joti gave outline of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit-2011, whereas Shri Arvind Agrwal, MD, GIDC, gave multimedia presentation. Shri Arunbharatraman and Chandrajeet Mukharjee gave credit for Gujarat's rapid growth to the farsighted leadership of Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
