Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is the president of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), today stressed on the need for a qualitative change in human resource development and systematic modern training methods in a popular game like cricket on a wide scale.

Presiding over the GCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), he also called for providing better infrastructure and professional management to make cricket more spirited.

The GCA unanimously approved the study groups’ suggestion for setting up a Sports School and making the GCA-run Cricket Academy more alive and breaking new grounds.

The meeting approved the pension scheme for the former Ranji Trophy players and hosting cricket matches in cities other than Ahmedabad. The GCA on the occasion felicitated the winners of cricket teams of Gujarat in different competitions.

The AGM was attended by Union Minister Dinsha Patel, GCA vice-president Parimal Nathwani, office-bearers of affiliated district cricket associations, and others.

GCA general secretary Rajesh Patel, treasurer Dheeraj Jogani and others presented details of the association’s activities and cricket tournaments scheduled to be staged in the coming days.

The AGM was preceded by the GCA Executive Committee meeting presided over by Mr. Narendra Modi.
