People of Gujarat yet again repose faith in Bharatiya Janata Party and dynamic leadership of Shri Narendra Modi

BJP captures 49 Municipalities as compared to 7 of the Congress in Nagarpalika Elections

BJP wins a total of 1149 seats whereas Congress wins in 425 seats only

Earlier Congress has 20 municipalities (now down to 7) and total of 608 seats (now down to 425)

BJP emerges victorious across the length and breadth of Gujarat

The people of Gujarat have yet again reposed their faith in the dynamic and development oriented policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Shri Narendra Modi. In the just concluded elections in 76 Nagarpalikas, the BJP has captured 49 municipalities whereas the principal opposition Congress party has emerged victorious in only 7. Others/Independents have won in 8 municipalities.

Out of the total number of seats that went to the polls, the BJP has won in 1149 seats whereas the Congress could manage to win in 425 seats. 53 seats have elected representatives from other parties and 261 Independents have won.

The results are significant because earlier, the Congress controlled 20 municipalities and have not been reduced to 7. In terms of seats held the Congress has 608 seats but that tally has dropped to 425!

These victories come less than two months after Shri Modi led the BJP to a record victory in the 2012 Gujarat Vidhan Sabha elections. Shri Modi himself took oath as the Chief Minister for the 4th time on 26th December 2012.
