Shri Narendra Modi says Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has failed to answer any of his questions on Sir Creek

PM should categorically state if there is any announcement to be made on Sir Creek: Shri Modi

I had expressed my concern during the CM’s conference in April this year, saying that what you are doing is betraying the nation. It was there in my speech but you were silent: Shri Modi

Do not mislead the nation by brining Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s name in the issue. In Agra neither General Pervez Musharraf raised the issue nor did Atal ji allow it to be raised: Shri Modi

Earlier, Shri Narendra Modi warned Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh against the possible giving away of Sir Creek

As a concerned and responsible citizen, I would earnestly request you that Sir Creek should not be handed over to Pakistan: Shri Modi

In 1965, Pakistan attacked us from that area and Gujarat lost one of its former CMs Shri Balwantrai Mehta too: Shri Modi

I had raised the issue during the Chief Minister’s meeting on internal security in April 2012 he had warned the Prime Minister that by doing this the entire nation will be unsafe: Shri Modi

Pakistan has no authority over Sir Creek: Shri Modi

I have information about drills by the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air force there: Shri Modi

On 15th December you will make a decision. 15th December is the Punya Tithi of Sardar Patel, do not commit this sin on that day: Shri Modi

By giving away Sir Creek our fishermen will be affected, they will lose their wok and will starve: Shri Modi

Sir Creek is a part of our body. We cannot give away a part of our body: Shri Modi

On the evening of Wednesday 12th December 2012 Shri Narendra Modi delivered a befitting reply to the Prime Minister’s claims on Sir Creek in the wake of Shri Modi’s letter to the PM earlier this afternoon and affirmed that the questions he has raised have not been answered by the PM. He was speaking at a public meeting in Bapunagar in Ahmedabad.

On the Prime Minister’s claim that this issue is being raked up during the elections, Shri Modi said that he has had to raise the issue today because he has got information that the PM will make an announcement on Sir Creek on 15th December and that is why he got worried.

He added that he had raised the issue at a meeting of all Chief Ministers in April this year and that time he had also spoken to the Prime Minister himself. He affirmed, “I had expressed my concern that what you are doing is betraying the nation. It was there in my speech but you were silent.”

Shri Modi said that Gujarat had not been taken into confidence and added that this is not an issue about Gujarat’s security but also the nation’s security.

Shri Modi asked the Prime Minister not to mislead the nation by unnecessarily dragging the name of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee into this issue. “You say negotiations were on since 1998. By bringing Atal ji’s name, do not try to mislead the nation. In 2001 Pervez Musharraf came to Agra and that time he did not raise Sir Creek nor did Atal ji allow him to raise Sir Creek.”

He asked the Prime Minister to categorically answer the people if there is an announcement on Sir Creek that will be made or not.

Earlier, on the evening of Wednesday 12th December 2012 Shri Narendra Modi strongly warned Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh against possible giving away of Sir Creek. He was addressing a massive public meeting in Mehsana where he shared that he has written a strongly worded letter to the Prime Minister, not as the Chief Minister but as a concerned and responsible citizen of Gujarat on this important issue of Sir Creek.

Shri Modi said that during the 1965 war, it was from Sir Creek area that Pakistan had launched a full-fledged attack on India and Gujarat also lost its former Chief Minister Mr. Balwantrai Mehta that time.

He pointed out that the Government of India is working behind the curtains to make a deal with Pakistan on Sir Creek and added that during the Chief Minister’s meeting on internal security in April 2012 he had warned the Prime Minister because the entire nation will be unsafe.

Shri Modi affirmed that Pakistan has no authority over Sir Creek and it is very unfortunate that the Centre is putting the nation under threat. He stated that today Kutch and Gujarat’s coastal areas are developing but if Sir Creek is given away Pakistan can do anything it wants. He added that if Sir Creek is given away Gujarat’s fishermen will not be able to go to fish, they will lose work and will starve.

He also shared that he had information about drills by the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air force there.

Additionally, Shri Modi pointed that the region has oil & gas reserves and ONGC has been working there for many years. He strongly urged the Prime Minister not to ruin the lives of the people of Gujarat by these behind the scenes arrangements.

Shri Modi declared that after 3 days, on 15th December the Prime Minister will be making a decision in New Delhi and reminded him that 15th December is the Punya Tithi of Sardar Patel and on this day he should not commit this sin.

Shri Modi gave the example of the Teesta Water sharing agreement where the agreement with Bangladesh was withheld because the Chief Minister of West Bengal opposed it. Similarly, he asked the Prime Minster not to keep the people of Gujarat in the dark and added that the people of Gujarat will not forgive him if that happens.

He said, “After elections I will give the voice of the people of Gujarat” and asked, “Shall we let this happen? Our nation and its security are threatened and this is what you are doing behind the scenes? For me Sir Creek is not about elections but it is a part of our body and you cannot take away a part of our body!”
