Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended a mass wedding ceremony – 'Papa Ni Pari' Lagnotsav 2022, at Bhavnagar, Gujarat. PM Modi spoke at the event and addressed the audience by giving his blessing to all 552 daughters getting married at the event. PM Modi, furthermore, highlighted the importance of having a father in one’s life.

PM Modi spoke on a distinct quality that all Gujaratis have been blessed with, that is, having a collective power in the society. PM Modi gave examples of how society comes together to help each other in times of distress and how the government of Gujarat has instilled this culture in its service to people.


Talking about how social schemes become successful when a society is integrated into it, PM Modi gave the example of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, PM Modi said, “Today we are all witness that Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is amazingly successful. Today the number of daughters has increased a lot in many states”.

PM Modi finally addressed the people on making India a developed nation and continue empowering the society. PM Modi once again gave his blessing to all the newlyweds.

PM Modi visits the Indian Arrival Monument

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
