Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge public rally at Jalpaiguri, West Bengal during his visit to the state today.

At the beginning of his address, PM Modi reminding everyone about the common bond of tea that he shared with the city and people of Jalpaiguri, which is world-renowned for its tea. He said, “Tea, however, also makes me wonder why Didi is so frustrated with this Chaiwala (PM Modi)? Everyone knows how the Siliguri Municipal Corporation is being treated by the state government these days. We are all aware about the situation of lawlessness in North Bengal, irrigation projects are stalled; the Bengal that was known for its traditions and heritage, is now renowned for political violence everywhere under the TMC government.”

Prime Minister Modi contrasted this situation of ill-governance with that of good governance under the BJP-led governments at the Centre and State levels, which have taken numerous initiatives to ensure ease of living and progress for everyone. In this regard, he listed recent government decisions such as the PM-KISAN and PM Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana for providing social security to the farmers and the unorganized sectors respectively as some of the many transformative measures taken by his government to ensure inclusive development for all.

Taking on the TMC government for its recent ‘dharna’ to create an environment of political chaos, PM Modi said, “Those that were given the responsibility of lifting standard of life of the people of Bengal and to provide them peace, stability and transparency, are themselves indulging in the political culture of killings and violence now. The period of violence that has been ongoing in Bengal for decades needs to stop now; the youth of Bengal deserve much better than this.” The BJP, he added, “will do in Bengal what it did in Tripura and ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ will soon be happening in Bengal.”

Prime Minister Modi also launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ which he termed ‘Maha-milawat’ in his Lok Sabha speech yesterday, saying, “I want to tell each party associated with this ‘Maha-milawat’ that their efforts to protect corrupt middlemen will never bear fruit under my watch. Neither do they have an ideology nor a vision to drive the country forward. The BJP stands with the people of Bengal. The BJP Karyakarta is not afraid of threats. We will ensure that the democratic process that applies to the rest of the nation, also applies to West Bengal.”
