Sherdil award for blood donors

It was a day to celebrate the achievements of unsung heroes of Gujarat who have without knowing the beneficiaries, helped save hundreds of lives. The state government on Tuesday awarded around 125 blood donors with the `Sherdil Gujarat` award during an event at Tagore Hall which had Chief Minister Narendra Modi and state governor Dr Kamla as guests.

Ahmedabad Red Cross Society (ACRS), on `World Blood Donors` day on June 14, acknowledged the feat of centurion blood donors from the state.

Former chief justice of Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh high courts, retired Justice BJ Diwan, is known as a man of rare mettle. As a centurion blood donor, the legal luminary inspired and motivated hundreds to donate blood.

"Red Cross, Gujarat chapter has completed 50 years and today it`s at the top in the country in terms of blood donation figures. It`s the philanthropic spirit of the residents of the state that has made a significant difference in the society," said Mukesh Patel, president, ACRS.

A thalassemia major patient, Meera Nayak, 27, could not stop thanking the blood donors gathered at the event.

Nayak has been a thalassemia patient since the age of three and requires to undergo blood transfusion every 15 days and has given 890 units of blood till date.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has highlighted the remarkable progress in expanding Metro connectivity across India and its pivotal role in transforming urban transport and improving the ‘Ease of Living’ for millions of citizens.

MyGov posted on X threads about India’s Metro revolution on which PM Modi replied and said;

“Over the last decade, extensive work has been done in boosting metro connectivity, thus strengthening urban transport and enhancing ‘Ease of Living.’ #MetroRevolutionInIndia”
