Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a three-day international conference on ‘Post Earthquake Reconstruction – Lessons Learnt and Way Forward’ on the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) campus tomorrow.

Experts from across the country and abroad will share their experience during the conference on a theme based on Gujarat’s story of courage and conviction in converting a calamity into an opportunity with gigantic Rescue and Relief operation followed by a massive Reconstruction and Rehabilitation with people’s participation – a unique exercise which invited global attention and accolade.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Vice-Chairman M. Shashidhar Reddy will deliver the keynote address and Gujarat’s Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Roads & Buildings and Women & Child Welfare Anandiben Patel will be the guest of honour.

The conference has been organized by Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), set up by the Government of Gujarat soon after the catastrophic earthquake on January 26, 2001.
