On Wednesday 20th February 2013 Shri Narendra Modi hailed the 2013-14 Budget presented in the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha by Finance Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel. Shri Narendra Modi said that this is the first budget presented by the new Government after being re-elected and the budget shows that the Gujarat Government is committed to progress of Gujarat and is also determined to increase the pace of development in the state. “We want to take the fruits of development to the villages, to the poor and that is clear from this Budget.”
The Chief Minister said that if one is to view the plan and non-plan expenditure of the Budgets of Centre and the Budget of the Gujarat Government, they are pictures in contrast. “In their case, 65% of the wealth is spent on running the Government whereas only 35% is spent on development. In our case it is the opposite. 65% is spent on development while 35% spent on running the Government,” and said that due to this the development in Gujarat is possible.
Shri Modi affirmed that the Budget will create confidence, make the youth active partners in the development process and is an extremely progressive budget on issues related to development of women, the poor and the issue of malnutrition.
