On the concluding day of the state’s 3-day colossal campaign of Kanya Kelavani and Sahala Pravesh Mahotsav (Girl child education and School enrollment drive) Chief Minister Narendra Modi once again underscored the need for social awakening for bringing about grassroots changes in the educational scenario, particularly in rural areas.

“We can not afford indifference towards education. Our society must animate and take up the responsibility for building future of the children of Gujarat through education”, said Mr. Modi at the primary schools of Aat and Tavadi villages located at the coastal regions of Navsari district where he went to attend enrollment process of little children in primary schools and anganwadis. Chief Minister distributed school-kits, toys, fruits and sweets to the children.

Chief Minister said, “Though the school enrollment drive concluded in three days, the much larger movement, that is, to awake the society for developing a tilt towards education has not ended.” The state government’s effort through this campaign is to make society focus on primary education during next decade, he said.

Mr. Modi said that from last ten years in a row the state government is successfully carrying out school enrollment drive on a huge scale. The world tend to notice the success of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, but the efforts like Kanya Kelavani and Shala Pravesh Mahotsav, which has potential for bringing about far-reaching positive results, are hardly noticed.

Chief Minister also spoke of the state government’s initiatives such as giving free-of-cost medical treatment to the school children and the steps for freeing people from malnutrition. He praised the role of rural women for the growing awareness in the society for girl child education.
