People of Tripura removed 'red signal' & elected 'double engine government’: PM Modi in Tripura
PM Modi thanks the people of Tripura for removing the ‘Red Signal’, and installing the double engine of BJP that helped the state to return on the track of development

As the poll campaign in Tripura is reaching a crescendo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge public meeting today in Agartala. Addressing a huge rally, PM Modi hit out at Left party, accusing them of looting the state for years and forcing people to live in poverty. He said, “The leftist rule had pushed Tripura on the path of destruction. The people of Tripura cannot forget the condition that prevailed here.”

“The Left had treated the people of Tripura as their slaves. Be it earning or hearing, ‘Red Signal’ itself had become the misfortune of Tripura. The BJP government has established peace and rule of law in Tripura,” he added. PM Modi thanked the people of the state for removing the ‘Red Signal’, and installing the double engine of BJP that helped Tripura to return on the track of development.

PM Modi launched broadside alleging the Congress and Left would eat every rupee of your rights. He said, “Left and Congress people can never develop Tripura. The Left and the Congress would always want Tripura to remain the poorest of the poor.” He accused the Left of betraying the poor and alleged that people have suffered due to years of their misgovernance and asked the people to vote for the double-engine government of the BJP at the Centre and the state to continue the streak of development in the northeastern state.

“I had promised for HIRA, and justifying the same today, the growth and prosperity in Tripura stands unparalleled. Also, everyone is taken aback as they land at Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport in Agartala. Such a modern airport in the northeast has become possible only because of the double engine government. New highways are being constructed at a fast pace in Tripura,” he said.

He also talked about the Agartala-Akhaura rail link project which is going to be completed very soon. “The Indian side is almost completed in this. The work on the Bangladesh side is also going on at a fast pace,” he added.

PM Modi accused the alliance by referring to it as CPM ki Chanda wali company and said, "five years ago, when there was Left government here, CPM ki Chanda wali company used to loot your ration. The poor wanted ration but Leftists used to loot the ration. But the double engine government is giving free ration to everyone today.”

Listing the initiatives taken by his government for the development of the state, the PM said that houses under PM Awas Yojana were built for three lakh families. “Due to the efforts of the double engine government, today more than 4 lakh families of Tripura have got piped water facility. So far, the BJP government has sent more than Rs 500 crore directly to the bank accounts of the farmers of Tripura. It has greatly benefited the small farmers of Tripura. Now the Tripura BJP has also announced that the Tripura government will also add Rs 2,000 to the money sent by the central government,” he said.

Campaigning for the BJP at Agartala ahead of the February 16 Tripura Assembly elections, PM Modi accused the Congress-Left alliance of double standards for their ‘kushti’ in Kerala and ‘dosti’ in Tripura. PM Modi said, “When it comes to public interest, BJP does not hold back from taking tough and big decisions. No one will be able to play with the future of your children in the BJP government. So, you have to vote for BJP and our allies on 16th February.”

Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana.
