The biggest scam of the Congress party was that of ‘poverty eradication’ or ‘Garibi Hatao’ 50 years ago: PM Modi

Seeking the blessings of ‘Maa Amba’, ‘Arbuda Mata’ and ‘Lord Dattatreya’ PM Modi began his address at a public meeting in Abu Road. Referring to the region of Mount Abu as the epitome of penance, PM Modi said, “Mount Abu encourages a lot of tourists to visit this place and hence this has made it a hub for tourism.”

PM Modi expressed his gratitude, that as a ‘Pradhan Sevak’ he was very fortunate to have got several opportunities to visit Mount Abu. PM Modi said that he remembered the promise he had made during his visit at the time of the ‘Navratras’ to spend more time with the audience interacting with them.

PM Modi said, “It is 10th May today. This day in 1857 marked the beginning of India’s First War of Independence. It was this day that our freedom struggle found a new direction and a sense of purpose and hence to come to Rajasthan today is a matter of great pride for me.”

PM Modi paid his tributes to all the freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the Indian Freedom Movement. PM Modi also remembered the contributions of Maharana Pratap. He remarked that many of the soldiers from Maharana Pratap’s army belonged to the ‘Hakki-Pikki’ tribe, who later migrated to Karnataka and have been living there since generations. Several people belonging to the Hakki-Pikki tribe also migrated to Sudan in search of opportunities. He added, “Many of the people belonging to the Hakki-Pikki tribe were stuck in war-torn Sudan. Our government reached out to them. We adhered to their request and got all of them back safe and sound to India.”

However, at this the Congress Party was very unhappy. PM Modi said, “They wished that somehow a harmful incident occurs with the members of the tribe so that I can be held responsible and criticized.” He added that the Congress party could go to any extent to defame him, BJP and this country. “Amidst this futile plotting against me, the Congress Party forgot, that to protect and safeguard Indians and their interests, I can cross all limits,” he added.

Citing another instance of the pandemic times, the PM stated how the COVID crisis was one of the largest that India ever experienced in the past 100 years. PM Modi said, “Congress party was only involved in the spreading of rumors and wanted people to die by further spreading misinformation and malice on the indigenous vaccines so that I can be held responsible. But we focused on the production of indigenous vaccines in record time to save as many lives as possible and did not succumb to any pressure whatsoever.”

The Prime Minister explained how the state of Rajasthan has faced a lot of ‘political turmoil’ in the past five years. The Congress Party has only indulged in infighting among each other. PM Modi said that the Congress Party was only been interested in power politics. The situation deteriorated to such an extent that the MLA’s do not trust the CM and vice-versa.

Such a situation, PM Modi stated, has had a deleterious impact on the development prospects of Rajasthan, where the Congress party just focused on appeasement, vote-bank politics and in furthering a colonial mindset. The law-and-order situation of Rajasthan has also worsened. It is because of this that the women and girls in the state are not able to celebrate festivals due to a high crime rate preventing their safety.

PM Modi said, “On 13th May, we celebrate a dark day of the Jaipur Blasts, where terrorists laid a siege on the city and the Congress Party was only busy in appeasement and vote-bank politics instead of initiating any action. They have made a mockery out of social justice depriving the people of Rajasthan. Due to this very reason the perpetrators of the bomb blast today roam scot-free.”

The Congress Party has only politicized the issues with respect to Dalits, Tribals and the other downtrodden sections and has not provided them with any benefits. PM Modi said, “This has been the situation with all of Rajasthan be it Jaisalmer or Karauli. But, we have made positive interventions by inaugurating projects worth Rs. 5,500 crores to aid the development of the state.

PM Modi said, “Be it the six-lane highway between Udaipur and Shyamalaji, or the Charbhuja project connecting Haldighati, Kumbalgarh and Shrinathji or the Taranga Hill-Abu Road rail line, we have always delivered on our infrastructural promise.”

The PM also held the Congress responsible for misleading the people in the name of guarantees. He said, “Before the various scams such as 2G by the Congress Party, about 50 years ago they had also committed another scam and had given a fake guarantee and this was of poverty eradication or Garibi Hatao.”

PM Modi said, “The Congress Party has only made fake promises and guarantees and that in 2014 around 10 crore people did not have access to toilets”. Around 50 crore people also did not have access to banking. It was this BJP government that provided all of these benefits, uplifting the poor.

PM Modi said “For the Congress party the entire population of India was a burden, but for us it is a responsibility.” He added, “All the parties like the Congress have only served their parochial interests, dividing Indian societies into various distinctions, leaving them merely as vote banks, deeply submerged in poverty.”

“Congress is a party of fake promises and guarantees. They announced that they will waive off all loans in ten days. It’s been five years and still the poor farmers have got not relief. We have always prioritized farmers and have disbursed more than Rs. 16,000 crores as income support for them,” said PM Modi.

The PM said that the BJP Government had always adhered to the demands of the farmers and have provided them with timely income and insurance support. “To enable their empowerment, we have also promoted ‘coarse grains’ or ‘Shree Anna’ like Jowar and Bajra,” he added.

PM Modi said, “I am happy that as the CM of Gujarat, we had built the Sardar Sarovar Dam which is also bringing a lot of benefits to the various districts of Rajasthan. Moreover, Congress’s attitude of delaying projects increased the project costs from Rs. 30 Lakhs to Rs. 300 crores. This showcases that the Congress Party is only interested in delays and absolving itself of its duties.”

“The Mount Abu region of Rajasthan is endowed with both natural and historical beauty such as the Guru Shikhar or the Dilwara Jain Mandir. Hence, it is our duty to promote its tourism and to preserve this rich cultural heritage,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi visits the Indian Arrival Monument
November 21, 2024

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
