Continuing his electioneering, PM Modi addressed a third massive rally of supporters in the Hoshiarpur constituency of Punjab this evening. The rally saw PM Modi fiercely attacking the state Congress government for its poor governance track-record in the state.

Highlighting how the BJP-led NDA government has constantly worked to empower the Sikh community since 2014, PM Modi said, “The teachings and ideals of our Gurus are our source of strength, faith and knowledge and so it becomes quite essential that such values are constantly spread in our society and people become aware of the rich cultural heritage of India. It is with this mission that the BJP-led NDA government not only celebrated the 350th anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with great enthusiasm all over the world, we also took the issue of Kartarpur corridor as a top priority and facilitated its construction for our Sikh brethren. However, even this decision did not go down well with Congress leaders who instead began applauding Pakistan’s government on this issue. This is the kind of divisive and Pak-appeasing politics of Congress that made Pakistan-based terror such a major security issue for India.”

PM Modi further lashed out at the Congress party for its role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and said, “The entire nation remembers how thousands of Sikhs were brutally murdered in the 1984 riots which directly involved the senior Congress leadership. Until 2014, the Congress governments spent three decades in making excuses and doing lip-service when it came to serving justice to the victims. However, fulfilling my promise made to the Sikhs in 2014, we ensured that the perpetrators of these riots were bought under the purview of justice.”
