CM expresses resolve to eradicate polio and malnutrition through people’s participation

Kicking off the fist round of pulse polio immunization drive in Gujarat today Chief Minister Narendra Modi expressed resolve to eradicate polio and malnutrition through people’s participation.

Many women gathered to the community centre at the premises of ministers’ residence in Gandhinagar to administer polio drops to their kids. Appreciating people’s response to the drive Chief Minister said the state has not registered even a single case of pulse polio since 2007.

The state government has implemented e-Mamta mother-infant health tracking system across the state which shows the state government’s commitment for bringing down mother-infant mortality rate, he said.

Health Minister Parbat Patel said that over 1.5 lakh health personnel and social organizations have given their support to administer polio drops to around 86.34 lakh children of the state. Over 34,500 polio booths have been made operational in the state.

Principal Secretary to Health-Family Welfare department Mr. Rajkishor, Commissioner Mr. P.K.Taneja and senior officials of health department were present on the occasion.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
