BJP continues victory march in Gujarat,wins Thara and Okha

BJP's victory march is continuing in Gujarat.

Two small towns Okha in Jamnagar district and Thara in Banaskantha district witnessed Municipality election on 10th of July. The results are out today and BJP has captured both Municipalities with clear majority.

BJP has been victorious on 20 out of total 36 seats of Okha Municipality. Rival Congress party has secured victory over 16 seats.

In Thara Municipality election, the BJP has secured victory over 18 out of total 21 seats leaving 3 seats for Congress.

Out of 11 Municipality seats across the state that witnessed by-election on same date, the BJP has secured victory over 7 seats while Congress has to be satisfied cornering only 4 seats.

In Taluka Panchayat by-elections BJP is declared winner on 5 seats while Congress 2 seats.

Thus out of total 75 seats the BJP has captured 50 seats while rival Congress party could win 25.

PM Modi meets with President of Suriname

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with the President of Suriname, H.E. Mr. Chandrikapersad Santokhi on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana on 20 November.

The two leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing bilateral initiatives and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as defense and security, trade and commerce, agriculture, digital initiatives and UPI, ICT, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, capacity building, culture and people to people ties. President Santokhi expressed appreciation for India's continued support for development cooperation to Suriname, in particular to community development projects, food security initiatives and small and medium enterprises.

Both leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Prime Minister thanked President Santokhi for the support given by Suriname to India’s membership of the UN Security Council.
