Narendra Modi to join Shreshta Bharat Diwas celebrations in Mumbai

On 27 th January, 2014, Shri Narendra Modi will address the Shreshta Bharat Divas at Polo Grounds, Mahalaxmi Race Course, in Mumbai, at 8.30 pm.

Shreshta Bharat Divas is a one-of-its-kind tribute to recognize and honour the valiant sacrifice made by our brave soldiers. The date 27th January has another special significance in the contemporary history of India. It was on this day, 51 years ago, when Bharat Ratna and Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar sang the soul stirring song ‘Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon’ in the backdrop of the Indo-China war.

The Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Ministerial Candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shri Narendra Modi shall be the guest of honour and will personally felicitate Lataji and hundreds of other war veterans. Also for the first time ever, more than a lakh Indians will unite to sing ‘Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon’. This unprecedented and collective feat would be a rich tribute to the invaluable contributions of our selfless jawans, who risk everything to keep our borders safe and secure.

Shreshta Bharat Divas is being organized by the youth body Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG) in association with Lodha Foundation and Shahid Gaurav Samiti. The run up to Shreshta Bharat Divas also saw a series of online initiatives being launched by the organizers to spread awareness about the heroic feat of our martyrs and reinvigorate a sense of patriotism and oneness amongst the youth. The prominent amongst these was a nationwide patriotic poetry contest titled ‘Zara Yaad Karo Kurbaani’. The winners of this contest will receive a certificate signed by Shri Narendra Modi and Lataji. In an effort to create the largest online repository of articles about of the life of army personnel and their families, the organizers are also running a ‘Share Your Story’ online campaign on the event website. As a part of the Shreshta Bharat Divas, the ‘Write to the Heroes’ campaign has been launched, whereby every citizen of the country can write a message to our jawans. These messages will be printed and sent out to the soldiers through post cards. Shreshta Bharat Divas is also a platform for socially conscious citizens to support martyr families. All proceeds raised will be donated to the Army Welfare Fund and Zilla Sainiki Welfare Office.

Shreshta Bharat Divas will be one of the largest citizen driven initiatives to honour the men in uniform. The organizers have personally visited prominent colleges across Mumbai to invite students to participate in full strength for this historic event.  Alongside with former chiefs of the Air force, Army and Param Vir Chakra Awardees, representatives from the world of art, cinema and politics will also be participating in this show of unity.  Param Vir Chakra Awardee Bana Singh, parents of valiant martyrs Captain Manoj Pandey and Captain Vikram Batra are some of the prominent invitees who have confirmed their attendance. Some of the other prominent invitees include Former Army Chief General Ved Prakash Mallik, Shiv Sena President Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, Bhojpuri super star Manoj Tiwari and Marathi artist Ashok Hande. This event is open to all and shall be beamed live across all army cantonments in India.

PM Modi to inaugurate ICA Global Cooperative Conference 2024 on 25th November
November 24, 2024
PM to launch UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025
Theme of the conference, "Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All," aligns with the Indian Government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate ICA Global Cooperative Conference 2024 and launch the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025 on 25th November at around 3 PM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

ICA Global Cooperative Conference and ICA General Assembly is being organised in India for the first time in the 130 year long history of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), the premier body for the Global Cooperative movement. The Global Conference, hosted by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), in collaboration with ICA and Government of India, and Indian Cooperatives AMUL and KRIBHCO will be held from 25th to 30th November.

The theme of the conference, "Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All," aligns with the Indian Government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation). The event will feature discussions, panel sessions, and workshops, addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by cooperatives worldwide in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as poverty alleviation, gender equality, and sustainable economic growth.

Prime Minister will launch the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025, which will focus on the theme, “Cooperatives Build a Better World,” underscoring the transformative role cooperatives play in promoting social inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. The UN SDGs recognize cooperatives as crucial drivers of sustainable development, particularly in reducing inequality, promoting decent work, and alleviating poverty. The year 2025 will be a global initiative aimed at showcasing the power of cooperative enterprises in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.

Prime Minister will also launch a commemorative postal stamp, symbolising India’s commitment to the cooperative movement. The stamp showcases a lotus, symbolising peace, strength, resilience, and growth, reflecting the cooperative values of sustainability and community development. The five petals of the lotus represent the five elements of nature (Panchatatva), highlighting cooperatives' commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The design also incorporates sectors like agriculture, dairy, fisheries, consumer cooperatives, and housing, with a drone symbolising the role of modern technology in agriculture.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan His Excellency Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji His Excellency Manoa Kamikamica and around 3,000 delegates from over 100 countries will also be present.
