Shri Narendrabhai Modi has created a record by completing 3000 days of his citizen centric governance. Garib Kalyan Melas accords primacy and reverence to the welfare of poor people and deprived classes. The first such fair was held at Amreli, dispensing benefits and aids to the beneficiaries belonging to Babra, Vadiya, Bagasara, Lathi and Lilya Talukas. Government officials moved village to village to offer benefits to the people, also gave them an invitation to attend the ‘Garib Kalyan Mela’. Less than 64 odd schemes, benefits and tool-kits worth Rs. 120.69 Crores were distributed to 63089 beneficiaries at he hands of Chief Minister and other Ministers – Ministers Shri Dilipbhai Sanghani, Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Kiritsinhji Rana, BJP President Gujarat State Unit Shri Purushottam Rupala, and Chief Whip Shri R.C.Faldu. Another Garib Kalyan Mela of the district will be organised at Rajula.

Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi had presided the ‘Garib Kalyan Mela’, said that the 1st Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Jivaraj Mehta belonged to Amreli, ‘Swarnim Gujarat Sanklap Yatra’ also began from Amreli, the Garib Kalyan Mela accords primacy and reverence to the welfare and development of deprived classes, and it has also begun from Amreli.

Chief Minister observed that various welfare schemes were launched after Gujarat became a State, crores of rupees were spent, but the pathetic situation of poor and deprived classes has remained same. It has happened because Government administration must be sensitive enough in offering scheme benefits. Present Government has sensitized the administration so that Government Officials proactively offers scheme benefits to the beneficiaries.

Chief Minister asserted that scheme benefits are dispensed in a totally transparent manner. No one can point out about any malpractice. It ensures that there is no place for Middle-Man. Now, Vested interests can not snatch away the benefits of the deprived classes. After Gujarat attained statehood, vested interests gave birth to corrupt-systems. But now, deprived classes are no more at the mercy of such system.

Chief Minister announced that the Dwelling-Unit-Plots that are distributed in last 50 years, more plots would be distributed in only one year-before January-2010- through Garib Kalyan Mela .

There is no political agenda behind it. It only aims to dispense scheme benefits proactively, straight in to the hands of appropriate beneficiary; Chief Minister has made it abundantly clear.

Chief Minister publicly announced that Government is giving what was due to the poor and deprived classes. In past, Vested-Interests used to snatch away such benefits. Such fairs would transform the lives of deprived classes in a true sense. He issued a public appeal to take maximum advantage of Government schemes. Sensitivity has been enkindled in to the administration. Identifying the importance of education, Chief Minister urged them to educate their children.

On the one hand Gujarat Government moves from village to village to offer scheme benefits, but people are facing rigors and hardships of the price-rise on the other. Instead of throwing pieces of aid to woo votes, State has made sincere efforts to empower them by instilling confidence in to them.

Garib Kalyan Mela would safeguard the interests of poor people in right earnest, added C.M.

Rajya Sabha M.P. and State BJP President, Shri Purushottam Rupala claimed that Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s Government has reached up to the doorstep of poor people for providing scheme benefits. In past, benefits and problems of people got hindered by nitty-gritty& administrative procedures. Situation has changed for better.
