On Saturday 24th August 2013 Shri Narendra Modi visited the newly created district of Morbi. He described the creation of the new district as a move towards quicker progress of Gujarat and towards integrating the people in the development journey of the state. He affirmed that Gujarat is developing and contributing to the development of the nation but while the people of Gujarat can see it, the anti-Gujarat vested interest groups cannot. As the new district of Morbi commences its development journey, Shri Narendra Modi announced a development project of Rs 25 crore to build 1008 Pukka Houses for the poor. On the occasion the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the creation of these new districts would positively contribute to Gujarat’s development.

The new district, which was created on 15th August was a promise made by Shri Narendra Modi to the people and the happiness of the people was evident when Shri Modi visited the district today. The district of Morbi has been created out of parts of Rajkot, Surendranagar and Jamnagar district. Shri Modi declared that this district, which is the land of the social reformer Swami Dayananda Saraswati would also become a land of progress in the coming time.

During the public meeting, that was attended by thousands of people from all Talukas of the district, Shri Modi was weighed against silver. 85 kg of silver was arranged to weigh Shri Modi and was presented to him by representatives of the ceramic industry of Morbi. The Chief Minister announced that the proceeds of this would go to build the Statue of Unity, to commemorate the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the Narmada River. In his speech Shri Modi affirmed that the development journey cannot be stagnant or static but it has to be Sarvasamaveshak and Sarvasparshi (all inclusive) and that Gujarat has shown the way in this direction. He shared that out of the seven new districts created, four are from Saurashtra.

Shri Modi said that the people of Gujarat have shown the way by rejecting those vested interest groups who have been spreading lies. He stated that in 2012 the Gujarat Government faced the people by giving them answers on their work in the last five years and in 2014 it is the turn of the Centre to answer the people what they have done. He also added that he is confident the people will give a fitting reply to the Centre in 2014.

Attacking the policies of the Congress-led UPA Government, Shri Modi said that both the Rupee and the leadership of the UPA, PM Dr. Manmohan Singh have turned mute. He said that to save the nation from crisis, it is essential to make the nation free from the UPA Government.

PM Modi addresses the Parliament of Guyana
November 21, 2024

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the National Assembly of the Parliament of Guyana today. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. A special session of the Parliament was convened by Hon’ble Speaker Mr. Manzoor Nadir for the address.

In his address, Prime Minister recalled the longstanding historical ties between India and Guyana. He thanked the Guyanese people for the highest Honor of the country bestowed on him. He noted that in spite of the geographical distance between India and Guyana, shared heritage and democracy brought the two nations close together. Underlining the shared democratic ethos and common human-centric approach of the two countries, he noted that these values helped them to progress on an inclusive path.

Prime Minister noted that India’s mantra of ‘Humanity First’ inspires it to amplify the voice of the Global South, including at the recent G-20 Summit in Brazil. India, he further noted, wants to serve humanity as VIshwabandhu, a friend to the world, and this seminal thought has shaped its approach towards the global community where it gives equal importance to all nations-big or small.

Prime Minister called for giving primacy to women-led development to bring greater global progress and prosperity. He urged for greater exchanges between the two countries in the field of education and innovation so that the potential of the youth could be fully realized. Conveying India’s steadfast support to the Caribbean region, he thanked President Ali for hosting the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit. Underscoring India’s deep commitment to further strengthening India-Guyana historical ties, he stated that Guyana could become the bridge of opportunities between India and the Latin American continent. He concluded his address by quoting the great son of Guyana Mr. Chhedi Jagan who had said, "We have to learn from the past and improve our present and prepare a strong foundation for the future.” He invited Guyanese Parliamentarians to visit India.
