Congress-led UPA Government has lost the trust of the people: Shri Modi

On Thursday 17th January 2013 Shri Narendra Modi visited Chennai. Shri Modi landed in Chennai to a grand welcome organized by the Tamil Nadu BJP workers.

Attacking the Congress-led UPA Government, Shri Modi said that while the people of India have a thirst of development, the UPA Government has comprehensively failed to give expression to the aspirations of the people. He pointed that due to their working, corruption and lack of development the UPA has ruined the dreams of the nation and has betrayed the trust of the people of India.

The workers congratulated Shri Modi on leading the BJP to a record victory in the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Elections 2012. Shri Modi pointed that those Governments that are unable to fulfill the dreams of development cannot win the trust of the people. But, Gujarat is a state where the BJP Government has received a record mandate and the Government has won the trust of the people, making them active partners in the quest for development and good governance. It is due to these efforts that today Gujarat is a model state of development while due to the Congress-led the UPA there is an atmosphere of gloom and pessimism across the nation. Shri Narendra Modi declared that except for development there is no solution to the problems the people of India face.

The Chief Minister paid tributes to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Shri MG Ramachandran. He wrote on Twitter, “Today is 96th birth anniversary of legendary former Tamil Nadu CM & evergreen hero of Tamilians, Thiru MGR. I greet all his fans & followers.” He also Tweeted, “In Chennai today. After being re-elected by the people of Gujarat, this is my 1st visit to Tamil Nadu & Chennai.”

India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives.

“Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat. We would have extensive deliberations on various subjects relating to governance. His wisdom and humility were always visible.
