Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed public meetings in Basti & Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi started his address by highlighting the martyrdom day of Chandrashekhar Azad, he further said, “Yesterday, on the completion of three years of Balakot airstrike, the country also remembered the valour of its Air Force.”

PM Modi spoke on how well India performs under multiple situations of crises. He said, “You are all familiar with the situation in the world for the last two years. The biggest pandemic of 100 years …In this challenging period, India has always given top priority to the safety of the lives of every citizen. Wherever the crisis struck, we have left no stone unturned to bring back our citizens safe. We are now bringing back thousands of Indians from Ukraine by running Operation Ganga. Our sons, daughters still stranded in Ukraine will be brought back. Our Government is working day and night for them.”

Calling out the opposition’s non-alignment with the nation's goals, PM Modi said, “This is the time to make India powerful, to make India self-reliant. We have to modernize our armies by all means. Those who have a history of taking commissions in defence deals cannot strengthen the country. These ‘Parivarwadis’ have only one formula - money in the family's vault, the law in the pocket and the public at their feet.”

PM Modi further targeted the opposition’s relentless disregard for the weaker sections of society, PM Modi reiterated a Kabir’s doha, “‘Durbal Ko Na Sataiye, Jaki Moti Haay’, This woe of the poor has shocked them in 2014, slammed in 2017, cleaned in 2019, and now in 2022, they are in dire need to save their seat.”

PM also spoke on India’s ambition to become ‘Aatmanirbhar’ and how it will make all sections of the society self-reliant. PM Modi also called out on the opposition’s fallacies of only seeing commissions from public projects and why they do not support ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. PM Modi said, “This is the difference between ‘Rashtrabhakti’ (patriotism) and ‘Parivarbhakti’ (being faithful to a family).”

PM Modi highlighted the future-proof vision of Double Engine Sarkar. PM Modi said, “A huge defence corridor is being built in Uttar Pradesh itself. We don't have oil wells; we source a lot of crude oil from outside and spend lakhs of crores on it. These (opposition) people never noticed that ethanol can be made with the help of sugarcane and it can be mixed with petrol.” PM Modi further added that the government today is investing and preparing a network of Ethanol plants, Bio-Gas plants and self-sufficiency of production of oil-seeds.

PM Modi finally addressed the public by highlighting the empowerment of the poor under the Double Engine Sarkar. PM Modi said, “When medical colleges are opened, ITIs are opened, everyone develops. When the government gives free ration, gives life-saving vaccines free of cost, it is for the welfare of all. That's why the opposition are against these schemes made in the interest of the poor.”

Lashing out at opposition in Deoria, the Prime Minister said, “This election is between 'Rashtravadis and Parivarwadis'...Remember how you had to take your vehicles to Gorakhpur in medical emergencies. This was happening for decades but the earlier governments did not pay heed to your need. In Gorakhpur, Deoria and surrounding areas, many innocent children died tragically due to encephalitis. But these Parivarwadis did nothing to improve the situation. It is the effort of Yogi ji's government that the disease has come under control in this area and lives of more and more children are being saved.”

Also, he said, “Just sometime back, I got the opportunity to simultaneously inaugurate Nine medical colleges in UP, in which Deoria's Maharishi Deoraha Baba Medical College was also included. It is our own government which has also given the facility of providing free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to the poor in the best hospital. AIIMS Gorakhpur has also brought big relief to the region.”

Talking about the plight of farmers in earlier governments, PM Modi remarked, “Our sugarcane farmers of Deoria can never forget how they were forced to sell their produce to middlemen. Earlier governments have made money by robbing sugar mills and left you in the lurch. Now new sugar mills are being opened under Yogi ji's government, the economic condition of sugar mills is being improved. In order to increase the income of sugarcane farmers, the work of ethanol blending is also being increased rapidly. Crores of litres of ethanol have been purchased from UP in the last 5 years. Due to this, UP has earned more than 12,000 crore rupees. In the last five years, Yogi ji's government has paid 1.6 lakh crore rupees to sugarcane farmers.”

Highlighting the benefits of Gorakhpur fertilizer plant, he said, “The new fertilizer plant of Gorakhpur has raised the pride of this region and reduced the problems of the farmers.”
