Amidst the ongoing election campaigning in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi’s rally spree continued as he addressed a public meeting in Sitapur today. PM Modi paid tribute to Sant Ravidas Ji on the occasion of his birth anniversary, he said, “For decades, the devotees of Sant Ravidas ji demanded development of his birthplace, but previous governments came here during elections, took photographs and left. It is a matter of happiness for me that I am the MP of Kashi where Sant Ravidas ji was born. We are redeveloping Sant Ravidas Ji’s birthplace.”

Describing why the BJP government is the need of Uttar Pradesh, he said, “BJP in UP means control over Dangaraj, Mafiaraj, Gundaraj... and freedom to celebrate all the festivals. Having BJP in UP means protection of daughters, women from 'manchalon'. BJP in UP means Centre's schemes being implemented at double speed.”

PM Modi spoke about several central schemes including Swachh Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, free Covid-19 vaccination and others. He said, “Poor women wanted freedom from the humiliation of open defecation. Our government has constructed over 2 crore toilets in the state. The BJP government has removed this big problem of their lives by constructing toilets under Swachh Bharat Yojana. Our government has built 34 lakh pucca houses in UP under PM Awas Yojana and gave them to poor beneficiaries. Gas connection was a privilege few years ago, the moment the Prime Minister of this country changed, the mindset changed. Now you can get a gas connection easily.”

Slamming the previous government, PM Modi remarked, “The poor were not heard under the rule of mafias. Our shopkeepers, traders and businessmen can never forget how hooliganism was at its peak during the government of ‘Parivarvadis’. Now Yogi ji's government is working hard to liberate the people of UP from these rioters and criminals. That's why today the entire UP is saying – Jo Kanoon Ka Raj Laye Hain, Hum Unko Layenge.”

“Leaders of the opposition don’t like to endorse the ‘Vocal for Local’ mission as they think Modi and Yogi will take the credit. For years, instead of emphasizing on the skills of their artisans, these ‘Parivarvadis’, emphasized on imports from abroad,” he added.

Talking about the sugarcane farmers’ plight during the previous government, PM Modi asserted, “The people of Sitapur can never forget how the farmers who came to sell sugarcane were lathi-lashed in front of the mill gate. The track record of previous government has been of shutting down sugarcane factories. Now, Yogi government is setting up new sugarcane factories and increasing the capacity of old factories.”

Concluding his speech, the PM stated, “Opposition is trying to divide you, but you have to be united and vote for BJP. Don’t forget – Pehle Matdan, Kamal Nishan, Phir Dusra Koi Kaam.”

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
