PM interacts with members of media on National Press Day
Role of media in society is immense, external forces on media not good for society: PMPress is responsible for upholding free speech: PM ModiRole played by media to further the message of cleanliness across the country laudable: PM Modiദേശീയ മാധ്യമ ദിനത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി പ്രസ് കൗണ്‍സില്‍ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച പരിപാടിയില്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ശ്രീ നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി പങ്കെടുത്തു. പ്രസ് കൗണ്‍സില്‍ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സുവര്‍ണ ജൂബിലിഅനുസ്മരിക്കാന്‍ കൂടിയായിരുന്നു ചടങ്ങ്. ചടങ്ങില്‍ സംസാരിച്ച പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മാധ്യമ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തേക്കുറിച്ച് ഊന്നിപ്പറയുകയും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ സ്വയം നിയന്ത്രണം ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തണമെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തു. മാധ്യമങ്ങളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാന്‍ പുറത്തുനിന്നുള്ള ഒരുതരത്തിലുള്ള ഇടപെടലും പ്രോല്‍സാഹിപ്പിക്കില്ല.
രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ചില ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ സമീപകാലത്ത് മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടതിലെ ഉത്കണ്ഠ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
സത്യംപറയുന്നതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ക്ക് ജീവന്‍ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന സ്ഥിതി അതീവ ഗൗരവമുള്ളതാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
