PM Narendra Modi today felicitated families of freedom fighters in Odisha. Speaking at the event, Shri Modi remarked, “It is unfortunate that the struggle for the country’s freedom got limited to a few families and instances whereas the struggle of independence was a people’s movement. It was about sacrifices people made for the country.”
PM Modi also said that tribal communities had played a vital role during the independence and hence the Government would initiate a digital exhibition displaying the valour of the tribal communities. He said that it would help spread the rich history and contributions made by several people among the youth.
India will never forget these courageous freedom fighters, who lost their lives so that fellow Indians can breathe the air of freedom.
