A state-of-the-art medical college, hospital and a research centre run by Gujarat Cancer Society (GCS) was dedicated to people by Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi today here in Naroda area of Ahmedabad. Chief Minister also announced that the civil hospital of Ahmedabad will be modernized with the cost of Rs.1000-cr with a view to provide latest medical services to the people of poor class.

The latest medical complex has been built by Gujarat Center Society on PPP (Public Private Partnership) model in 25 acre of area. Initially the hospital will have a capacity of 300 beds which will be increased to 1000 beds. Chief Minister also inaugurated PET scan facility here which is the first among all the public hospitals of Gujarat. He also felicitated 14 donors on the occasion.

Chief Minister while congratulating those who were behind the making of this modern facility said the state government desires to develop human resource of the state and to that it has added more medical seats during last decade than it was there during past forty years. This has put an end to the flow of hundreds of crores of rupees into other states.

“Youths need to be encouraged if India wants itself to be on the forefront in 21st century. Had the power of youths been recognized thirty years back, India's youth would have been on the top of the world today”, he said.

Chief Minister also reiterated his resolve to open at least one medical college in every district.

From genetic science to life science, Gujarat government is endeavoring to make available international-standard medical services in the state and is getting ahead in the field of health tourism also, said Chief Minister.

Speaking on the occasion Health Minister Jay Narayan Vyas said the state government is broadening the scope of medical services with a view to raise the Human Development Index of the state. State government has also added more than 1000 seats in medical colleges during past three years besides encouraging nursing and paramedical education so that the bright students do not need to go to other state for medical education.

In the beginning GCS Chairman Mr. Pankaj Patel said this modern hospital has been built with a view to provide latest treatments to the people of the state at an affordable cost.

Principal Secretary to Health and Family Welfare department Mr. Rajesh Kishor, GCS Director Mr. Shirin Shukla, faculty doctors of medical college, students and donors were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi received a telephone call today from H.E. Mr. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council.

PM congratulated President Costa on his assumption of charge as the President of the European Council.

Noting the substantive progress made in India-EU Strategic Partnership over the past decade, the two leaders agreed to working closely together towards further bolstering the ties, including in the areas of trade, technology, investment, green energy and digital space.

They underlined the need for early conclusion of a mutually beneficial India- EU FTA.

The leaders looked forward to the next India-EU Summit to be held in India at a mutually convenient time.

They exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. The leaders agreed to remain in touch.
