Gandhinagar, Friday: Chief Minister Narendra Modi today toured the Malia-Hati and Talala talukas in Junagadh district most hit by yesterday’s earthquake of 5.3 on the Richter scale, wished speedy recovery of the injured and ordered survey of the extent of the damage.

He visited Lahudi, Jalandhar and other villages in the afternoon and met the injured and enquired about their wellbeing. Fortunately, there was no loss of lives, he said.

Immediately after learning the news about the earthquake late last night on his return to the capital from Sadbhavna Mission Abhiyan at Navsari, Mr. Modi alerted the entire district administration, directed the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) staff to reach the areas with maximum damage and provide all possible rescue and relief assistance.

The Chief Minister praised the GSDMA staff for providing timely help and the local people for their bravery for coming to the help of the victims, keeping in line with the tradition of the Gir or Girnar region.

Those who accompanied Mr. Modi included Minister of State for Water Resources Kanubhai Bhalala, Parliamentary Secretary Lavjibhai Rajan, District Collector Ashutosh Parmar, DDO and SP, among others.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has highlighted the remarkable progress in expanding Metro connectivity across India and its pivotal role in transforming urban transport and improving the ‘Ease of Living’ for millions of citizens.
