The state government is all set to celebrate 65th Independence Day in a gala way.

Today on the eve of the Independence Day, Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi went to Nadiad of Kheda district, where the state-level Independence Day celebration has been organized and laid foundation stone for three different development works that include - Rs. 57-crore water supply system linked with Mahi river, Rs. 111.20-crore underground gutter expansion scheme and Rs.244-crore Nadiad-Kapadvanj-Modasa state highway development project. With this, the Kheda saw an inauguration and foundation laying of around 3,829 development works worth Rs.757-crore by different ministers during last ten days.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said that with the 40% of population of Gujarat living in the cities, the state government is planning to implement newer ways of urban development. Regarding the expansion and strengthening of Nadiad-Kapadvanj-Modasa state highway project, Chief Minister said that the project will double the width of the road and will connect Nadiad directly with Mambai-Udaipur and Vapi-Shamlaji cities.

National festivals have become the festivals of development. Convergence of awareness on the part of people, people's participation and their strength has open up a new direction of growth for Gujarat, he said.

While mentioning the success of the cleanliness campaign in the Nadiad city, Chief Minister said the people have handed him a responsibility of removing ‘uncleanliness' in all the sectors and that he will pursue his responsibility with full commitment.

While in Nadiad, Chief Minister went to take a look at the research projects of the students of Dharmsinh Desai University and had discussion with the students. Chief Minister said the state government desires to give a push to the young talents wanting to go for research and come up with innovative ideas. With this desire, he said, the state government has initiated to start a world-class incubation centre where the young talents will be nurtured. We have also requested Mr. Narayan Murthy to steer this incubation centre, he said.

Chief Minister visited the birth place of Sardar Patel and paid homage. He also visited the famous Santram temple of Nadiad and sought the blessings of Maharaj of the temple.

Chief Minister also took time to visit the 104-year-old orphanage at Nadiad, known as Hindu Anathashram. He praised the contribution of countless people in the society besides the government in preparing about 100 inmates face the world with confidence. Union Minister of State Dinsha Patel was specially present on the occasion.

Prominent among those present at various I-Day functions at Nadiad included District Guardian and Education Minister Ramanlal Vora, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Fakir Vaghela, Water Supply Minister Nitin Patel, Minister of State for Roads & Building Minister Jaydrathsinh, Parliamentary Secretary Sundarsinh Chauhan, chief whip in State Assembly Pankaj Desai, legislators Devusinh, former Minister Bimal Shah, officials and citizens.
