On completion of one year of the launch of PM-KISAN scheme, PM Modi unveiled a saturation drive for distribution of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to all the beneficiaries under the PM-KISAN Scheme. As part of the drive, over 25 lakh beneficiaries of PM Kisan across the country have been provided.

The Central government has launched the drive to help farmers benefit from KCC scheme in order to help them get institutional credit from banks to cope up with high cost of cultivation.

More than 2000 bank branches in rural areas have been tasked with providing the KCC card to the farmers. Farmers can get up to Rs 3 lakh loan at 4% interest. The government has set an estimate of Rs 20,000 crore which will be utilised to sanction loan to KCC cardholders.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid homage today to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in the historic Promenade Gardens in Georgetown, Guyana. He recalled Bapu’s eternal values of peace and non-violence which continue to guide humanity. The statue was installed in commemoration of Gandhiji’s 100th birth anniversary in 1969.

Prime Minister also paid floral tribute at the Arya Samaj monument located close by. This monument was unveiled in 2011 in commemoration of 100 years of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana.
