Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the month-long 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' in Varanasi on November 19, fostering cultural ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. The event, organized by the Ministry of Education and various collaborating ministries, aims to bring together scholars, students, artists, and professionals from both regions to exchange knowledge and celebrate shared heritage. The program aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, emphasizing the integration of traditional Indian knowledge with modern systems. Implemented by IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University, over 2,500 delegates from Tamil Nadu, spanning 12 categories, will participate in seminars, site visits, and academic programs during their eight-day tour. An exhibition showcasing handlooms, handicrafts, books, documentaries, cuisine, art forms, history, and tourist attractions from both regions will be displayed in Varanasi. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan supervised preparations and welcomed Tamil Nadu guests at the Banaras railway station, emphasizing the historic significance of the event in bridging cultural ties. The program aims to promote collaboration and understanding, echoing the values of Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi, whose contributions to social justice and women empowerment are highlighted in the cultural exchange.
