On 9th January 2014 Shri Narendra Modi will address a special interactive session of the Pravasi Bharatiya Session 2014. In addition, the pavilion of the state of Gujarat will feature the all round development in the state in the last decade under the leadership of Shri Modi. This will include the development in the fields of industry, education, tourism, Jan Bhagidari. The pavilion will also feature information about the Statue of Unity project.

In addition to this, the Gujarat Government will be putting up a stall at the Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre where industry specific information will be available.

Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja and Principal Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar will accompany the Chief Minister. Last year, on 9th January 2013 Shri Modi had addressed NRIs during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Kerala. Shri Modi’s speech was lauded by members of the Indian diaspora.

PM Modi visits the Indian Arrival Monument
November 21, 2024

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
