April 11, 2015 was PM Shri Modi’s second day in France. The day was eventful and Shri Narendra Modi began by visiting the aviation hub situated in Toulouse.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accompanied by the French Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Laurent Fabius. Shri Modi was enthusiastic to have got the opportunity to visit the Airbus facility. He even tweeted prior leaving for Toulouse.

At the Airbus facility, Shri Narendra Modi was given a warm reception. He was taken around the entire Airbus facility and briefed up about the newest of technology innovations. The Prime Minister was also very much pleased to see Airbus’ push for ‘Make in India’ initiative. He took to twitter yet again and shared a few glimpses of his visit to the Airbus hub.

Shri Narendra Modi also visited the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) - the French Government space agency in Toulouse. Prime Minister Modi was informed about the latest of inventions and technological upgradations in space science. He was taken around the institute building and shown the latest of equipment and gadgetry.

At the CNES, Shri Narendra Modi shared a lighter moment with few of his admirers. He clicked selfies and had a cheerful interaction with a number of young researchers.

The PM also met with elected representatives of Midi-Pyrénées Region.

The Prime Minister visited the Neuve-Chapelle Memorial later in the day. Paying rich tributes Shri Modi remembered the valour and sacrifice of all Indian soldiers martyred in First World War. Giving a tribute to the soldiers, the Prime Minister wrote in the visitors’ diary and gifted a replica of Garhwal WWI Memorial during his visit.

PM Narendra Modi was also joined in by a few youngsters to pay respects near the Neuve-Chapelle Memorial. There were chants of
‘Shaheedon Amar Raho Amar Raho’ there.

In the evening, Shri Narendra Modi reached out to the Indian Community at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. There was huge enthusiasm and the crowd waited eagerly for the PM. People gathered in huge numbers to have a glimpse of Shri Modi and listen to him. As the Prime Minister arrived, the audience cheered with immense joy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was visiting France with a dream to take India ahead. He said that earlier he visited France as a tourist but now he visited France to take tourists to India.

Assuming India to be a nation that always believed in world peace, he added that Indians constitute the largest numbers in peacekeeping forces and the sacrificing abilities of Indian soldiers was well-known. Shri Modi considered the opportunity to be the right time to give the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Buddha it’s due in terms of expansion of the UN Security Council. He noted the sacrifices done by the Indian soldiers during the World War 1. Shri Modi considered France to be one of the long standing partners of India. He added that France was the first country to raise its voice if injustice was done to India.

Happy to see the push for ‘Make in India’ initiative in France, the PM quoted, “I have barely said 'Make in India' thrice since yesterday, but French President's every third sentence had 'Make in India'. Keeping the fact that India was the most youthful land, PM Modi said that India’s demographic dividend was her biggest strength. As the Prime Minister concluded his speech, slogans of
‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ were heard from all round the venue.

Summing up his France tour, he hoped to deepen the strategic ties between both the nations in the times to come. He wished that India and France would walk shoulder to shoulder in areas of defence, trade and security. The PM also met former President of France, Mr. Sarkozy.

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today hailed Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab Ji as a towering personality who devoted his life to making India free and ensuring a life of dignity and equality for every Indian. Paying homage on his 125th birth anniversary, Shri Modi reiterated the Government’s commitment to fulfilling Dr. Mahtab’s ideals.

Responding to a post on X by the President of India, he wrote:

“Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab Ji was a towering personality who devoted his life to making India free and ensuring a life of dignity and equality for every Indian. His contribution towards Odisha's development is particularly noteworthy. He was also a prolific thinker and intellectual. I pay homage to him on his 125th birth anniversary and reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his ideals.”
