The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today addressed the Valedictory Ceremony at the Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police at Kevadiya in Gujarat.

He appreciated the officers for looking at all issues in the national perspective. He described this as the biggest achievement of the changed nature of this annual Conference over the last few years.

He praised the police forces for their success in countering terrorism, and limiting it to a small geographic area of the country. He said the people of India are, in particular, proud of the police force in Jammu and Kashmir, for their role in countering terrorists, and successfully engaging them.

He urged the police forces across the country to be vigilant in countering the dark forces of radicalization, and to engender trust among all communities across the nation.

The Prime Minister stressed on the importance of Inter-State coordination, in tackling crime.

Touching a note of caution, the Prime Minister noted that caste faultlines are being exploited by divisive elements for short term gains. He urged the police forces to continue working for the unity and integrity of India. Let us strengthen forces that promote unity, and isolate divisive forces at the grassroots level, he exhorted the gathering.

Shri Narendra Modi said that police personnel work hard in adverse circumstances. Yet, he added, they often do not receive the recognition they deserve. He called upon senior officers to work towards greater recognition of police personnel who work for the benefit of the people. He said that social media can be used effectively for this purpose.

The Prime Minister emphasized on the need for capacity building in the police forces, on the subject of cyber security.

The Prime Minister appreciated the parade by the police forces of various States yesterday, at the Statue of Unity. He said it would truly have been inspirational for all those who witnessed it.

The Prime Minister announced that an annual Sardar Patel award for contribution towards national integration, open to all Indians.

The Prime Minister also presented President's Police Medals for Distinguished Service to IB officers. He congratulated and appreciated the medal winning officers of IB, for their dedication and commitment to service.

Shri Narendra Modi released a commemorative postage stamp on the National Police Memorial. He said the memorial should become a source of inspiration for all.

He launched the portal of the Cyber Coordination Centre. This is envisaged as an umbrella platform that will help Law Enforcement Agencies coordinate their efforts to solve all cyber crimes and incidents.

Prime Minister lauds Andhra Pradesh’s Yogandhra 2025 Initiative

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today appreciated the vibrant participation of yoga enthusiasts at the Yogandhra 2025 event held near Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. The event, organized amid the breathtaking Puligundu Twin Hills where over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts gathered to kickoff to Andhra Pradesh’s month-long lead-up to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025.

Quoting a post shared by Union Minister, Shri Prataprao Jadhav on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said;

"Gladdening to see enthusiasm building up towards Yoga Day 2025. #Yogandhra2025 is a commendable effort by the people of AP to make Yoga popular. I look forward to marking Yoga Day in AP on the 21st.
