Ahmedabad, Saturday: A delegation of Bar Council of India (BCI) led by its Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra today called on Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and invited him to address the valedictory function of the golden jubilee of Gujarat Bar Council to be held under the aegis of BCI in February 2014.
The delegation regretted the Central Government’s apathy towards the professional problems of the 17-lakh strong members of the BCI, despite illustrious lawyers like Mahatma Gandhi having remained the member of Ahmedabad City Advocates Association once.
They discussed ways with Mr. Modi as to how to uphold the dignity of the profession befitting the high tradition of our judicial system and make it people-oriented. The delegation respected Mr. Modi’s nationalism and expected Mr. Modi to stand up to future expectations.
Mr. Modi called for optimum application of technology in Bar Council, judiciary and profession. He listed the steps undertaken in this direction in Gujarat, notably the facility of e-Library in Gujarat Bar Council, advanced studies and training in Forensic Science University for fast and simple justice.
