In order to make our place in the world we need to create a credible brand, an individual cannot do this. States, associations and businesses must come together in order to achieve this: Shri Modi

Today, manufacturing businesses in China know our festivals well. They know and understand the Indian consumer well. This gives them an advantage when it comes to manufacturing everything, right from Ganesh Idols to Rakhis. Thus, Vision is extremely important if a business is to grow: Shri Modi

We should also look at how much raw materials we export and how many value added goods we export, we should try and export not just iron ore but steel, not just polished diamonds but jewellery: Shri Modi

Speaking about the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor’s Summit, the CM said, “We are conducting 125 seminars. We will be touching all spheres of governance and development.  Our mission is bringing whatever is good and positive in the world into India and showcasing India’s strengths to the world: CM

On Wednesday 9th Janaury 2013, while releasing a book at the Gujarat National Law University, Hon. CM Shri Narendra Modi spoke about the importance of values and vision in Business.

Highlighting the importance of building a credible brand, Shri Modi gave the example of Japan.  He said, “When people buy something that is made in Japan, they do not want to know who the producer is, what the place of manufacturing etc. The label ‘Made in Japan’ is enough for the consumers. In order to make our place in the world we need to create a credible brand, an individual cannot do this. States, associations and businesses must come together in order to achieve this.”

Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of ‘values’ when it came to brand creation and said, “We should aim for zero defects, when we go to the world we cannot compromise with values.” To stress his point, the Chief Minister gave the example of Gujarat’s cotton farmers who have successfully managed to create a credible brand.

Highlighting the importance of having Vision while conducting business the CM said, “We should study and prepare a chart of the things that will be required in the world in the future.” To highlight his point, the CM gave the example of Manufacturers in China and said, “Today, manufacturing businesses in China know our festivals well. They know and understand the Indian consumer well. This gives them an advantage when it comes to manufacturing everything, right from Ganesh Idols to Rakhis. Thus, Vision is extremely important if a business is to grow.”

Shri Modi urged businesses to consider exporting Value added products. He said “We should also look at how much raw materials we export and how many value added goods we export, we should try and export not just iron ore but steel. “ Further, citing the example of the diamond cutting industry, the CM said that if we export only polished diamonds, the returns we get would be less. On the other hand if we export jewellery, the returns could be substantially higher.

Speaking about the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor’s Summit, the CM said, “We are conducting 125 seminars. We will be touching all spheres of governance and development.  Our mission is bringing whatever is good and positive in the world into India and showcasing India’s strengths to the world.”
