Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is misleading the nation on the issue of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi’s travels abroad: Shri Modi

Shri Modi quotes RTI replies from various embassies to illustrate his point

For the last 8 years of UPA rule, no good news has been coming from Delhi: Shri Modi

On the evening of Friday 5th October 2012 Shri Narendra Modi said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is misleading the nation on the issue of UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi’s travels and quotes RTI replies from various Indian embassies to illustrate the point further. Shri Modi was speaking at a huge rally in Jamnagar during the Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra.

“The Prime Minister is misguiding the country. I ask the Prime Minister as a common man to come clean. The RTI reply received from various Indian embassies abroad says lakhs of rupees were spent on Mrs. Gandhi’s foreign trips,” said Shri Modi.

These important issues yet again raised by Shri Modi come on the day the PMO issues a statement that said that only Rs. 3 lakh were spent on her travels abroad. The RTI replies reveal a completely different answer.

“Mrs. Sonia Gandhi’s visit to London twice in 2007 and 2011 — the money spent was Rs 2.82 lakh and Rs 35 lakh respectively. Her two trips to China — money spent was Rs 14 lakh and Rs 12 lakh respectively,” Shri Modi stated, quoting from the RTI replies.

The Chief Minister further went on to give names of other countries she had visited and the expenditures incurred.

He categorically reaffirmed that the issue is not about the health of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi but her travels overseas.

Shri Modi affirmed that Swami Vivekananda dreamt of making India the Jagad Guru (World leader) but for the past 8 years under the rule of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, no good news has been coming from New Delhi.

Shri Modi said that the Disha of the Congress is corruption, dynasty politics, nepotism and worship of a family. He expressed confidence that the voters will not accept the Congress, which has been cheating the people.

The Chief Minister stated that in the last 11 years he has merely filled the ditches of preceding 40 years of Congress rule and the journey for a Bhavya (Excellent) and Divya (Divine) Gujarat will commence after December this year.
