While inaugurating an 108 emergency medical service centre at Kathawada near Ahmedabad Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that Gujarat has turned around its status in emergency medical services which was in a neglected state a decade back by bringing qualitative and grass-rooted changes in it. With a state-wide 108 emergency medical response network, Gujarat has exemplified itself in providing free-of-cost, selfless and reliable emergency services.
108 service was set up in Gujarat under public-private partnership model between Gujarat Government and GVK EMRI. Gujarat Government had allotted GVK a plot near Kathawada to establish a high-tech emergency and research management centre, which became functional today. Chief Minister on his visit to this newly set up centre took a view of its call centre, research lab, control room and monitored its activities. Chief Minister also flagged of 50 ambulance vans that aim at reaching the place of mishap in minutes.
Shri Modi said that 108 service also faced political resistance initially but with a high-tech centre and prompt services it has answered such hurdling entities.
Chief Minister also mentioned instances where 108 service saved many lives during Ahmedabad bomb blasts. He also met some of beneficiaries whose life could be survived due to 108 services.
Health Minister Shri Jaynarayan Vyas said that under the vision and able guidance of Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi State is efficiently implementing various welfare schemes. He also mentioned about Gujarat sending 108 services and doctors/paramedical staff at the time of Kosi flood in Bihar and said that it was a humble gesture extended with a spirit of friendship.
Earlier CEO of GVK EMRI Mr. Venkatchangawali delivered welcome address and credited the success of 108 services in the State to the farsightedness and commitment of Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Minister of State for Health Shri Parbatbhai Patel, Assembly Whip Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja, Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Kanji Thakor, MLAs, AMC office bearers, senior doctors along with people were present on the occasion.
