प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम से गुजरात में रेलवे की कई प्रमुख परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन किया और कई अन्य परियोजनाओं को राष्ट्र को समर्पित किया। कार्यक्रम के दौरान उन्होंने गुजरात साइंस सिटी में एक्वेटिक्स व रोबोटिक्स गैलरी और नेचर पार्क का भी उद्घाटन किया। उन्होंने दो नई ट्रेनों - गांधीनगर कैपिटल वाराणसी सुपरफास्ट एक्सप्रेस तथा गांधीनगर कैपिटल और वरेथा के बीच मेमू सर्विस ट्रेन - को भी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।

उपस्थित लोगों को संबोधित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि आज देश का लक्ष्य न सिर्फ एक ठोस ढांचा तैयार करना है, बल्कि ऐसा इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर तैयार करना है जिसका अपना चरित्र हो। उन्होंने कहा कि बच्चों के प्राकृतिक विकास के लिए उनके मनोरंजन के साथ उनकी शिक्षा और रचनात्मकता को भी जगह मिलनी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि साइंस सिटी एक ऐसी परियोजना है, जो मनोरंजन और रचनात्मकता का संयोजन है। इसमें मनोरंजन की ऐसी गतिविधियां हैं जो बच्चों में रचनात्मकता को प्रोत्साहन देती हैं।

The Prime Minister noted that the Aquatics Gallery built in Science City is going to be even more enjoyable. It is one of the top aquariums not only in the country but also in Asia. He said that the sight of marine biodiversity from around the world at one place is a wonderful experience in itself.

The Prime Minister said the interaction with robots in the Robotics Gallery is not only the center of attraction but will also inspire our youth to work in the field of Robotics and will inculcate curiosity in their mind.

The Prime Minister stressed that India's needs of the 21st century cannot be met by the modus operandi of the 20th century. Therefore, there was a need for a fresh reform in the railways. He said that today the results of efforts to develop railways not just as a service but as an asset are visible.

He said today major railway stations across the country are being modernised. Even railway stations in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are now equipped with Wi-Fi facilities. The unmanned railway crossings on broad gauge have been completely eliminated to enhance safety of the people.

The Prime Minister emphasized on the critical role played by railways in a vast country like India. He said that railways also bring new dimensions of development, new dimensions of facilities. Due to the effort of the last few years, today trains are reaching the capitals of the North East for the first time. “Today Vadnagar has also become a part of this expansion. I have so many memories attached to Vadnagar station.

The new station looks really attractive. With the construction of this new broad gauge line, the Vadnagar-Modhera-Patan heritage circuit is now connected with better rail service”, said the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister remarked that the vehicle of development of New India will move forward only by moving on two tracks simultaneously. One track is of modernity, the other track is for the welfare of the poor, farmers and middle class.

Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi received a telephone call today from H.E. Mr. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council.

PM congratulated President Costa on his assumption of charge as the President of the European Council.

Noting the substantive progress made in India-EU Strategic Partnership over the past decade, the two leaders agreed to working closely together towards further bolstering the ties, including in the areas of trade, technology, investment, green energy and digital space.

They underlined the need for early conclusion of a mutually beneficial India- EU FTA.

The leaders looked forward to the next India-EU Summit to be held in India at a mutually convenient time.

They exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. The leaders agreed to remain in touch.
