PM Modi launches Kashi Tamil Sangamam, highlighting historical ties. Flags off Varanasi-Kanyakumari Express, aiming to unite Tamil Nadu and Kashi. The event, attended by UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Union ministers, seeks to foster unity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the second edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, emphasizing its role in fostering the spirit of "Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat." The event, held from December 17-31, involves the participation of 1,400 dignitaries, including students, teachers, farmers, writers, and spiritual leaders from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. PM Modi flagged off the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, connecting Varanasi and Kanyakumari, during the inauguration at Namo Ghat. The Sangamam seeks to rediscover and celebrate the historical ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, significant centres of learning. PM Modi credited ancient philosophers like Adi Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya for shaping the idea of India. He highlighted the symbolic significance of the Sengol, a historical scepter from Tamil Nadu, in the new Parliament building. The Prime Minister underscored the spiritual connection between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, stating it symbolizes moving between the homes of Mahadev and Kashi Vishalakshi. The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and L Murugan.
