With the blessings of Ma Kali, Shri Narendra Modi addressed a large public gathering marking the conclusion of his month long Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra. Shri Modi asked the people to pledge that they will not give Gujarat to the Congress! He spoke about the advances Gujarat has made in correcting the adverse gender ratio among other things.
Shri Modi said that he has come to the land of Ma Kali not to ask anything for himself but for the 6 crore people of Gujarat. He sought the blessings of Ma Kali that there is no drought or natural disaster in Gujarat and that there is health and education for all.
In his speech Shri Modi stated that today is International Day of the Girl Child and recalled that when he saw the census figures of 2001 there were tears in his eyes. Adverse gender ratio was a cause of concern. They started a movement and today the numbers are improving for which he congratulated the people. Shri Modi said that the day is not far when for every 1000 boys taking birth 1000 girls will also be taking birth in Gujarat.
The Chief Minister said that he wanted that every girl child in Gujarat receive education for which in the month of June he along with Ministers and senior officials go to villages and ask the parents to educate their child. Today, there is a record 100% enrollment for the girl child in Gujarat. He declared that the Chiranjeevi Yojana has saved many mothers and children and has received accolades.
Shri Modi said that he took a lot of time to wash the sins of the previous Governments and wondered why the preceding Congress Governments never thought of constructing adequate toilets in schools. Similarly the Congress played politics over reservation but they never bothered to create facilities to study science at the school level for Tribal children in the stretch from Umargam to Ambaji.
He recalled that it was on this land that former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam dedicated 24/7 electricity for Gujarat’s villages to the nation. That time, Late Pandit Naval Kishore Sharma who served as the state’s Governor was also present.
Shri Modi said that every nation showcases one developed part to the world like China does in case of Shanghai or Japan does for Tokyo but affirmed that had our Prime Minister considered Gujarat its own he could have showcased it to people but that has not happened. He further added that in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 120 nations came to Gujarat but has this ever happened in Delhi? He asked the PM why he does not treat Gujarat as a part of India.
Paying tributes to Jay Prakash Narayan, Shri Modi affirmed that the nation needs another JP today.
The Chief Minister welcomed the move by the British Government to further cooperation between UK and Gujarat and added that the PM may or may not have understood this the UK surely has. He said that for 10 years Britain had no relation with Gujarat but today they have understood Gujarat’s importance and decided to work with us.
Shri Modi declared that he would not talk of elections as people have already made up their mind that they want a Bhavya (Grand) and Divya 9Divine) Gujarat and added that Mrs. Sonia Gandhi may come here 50 times but Gujarat will not fall into the hands of the corrupt.
He concluded his speech by asking the people to take a pledge that just like Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi said “Meri Jhansi Nahi Doongi” (I will not give my Jhansi), they should affirm “Nahi Denge, Nahi Denge, Humara Gujarat Nahi Denge!” The entire gathering took this pledge!
The programme was attended by a galaxy of top leaders from the BJP. BJP President Shri Nitin Gadkari addressed the gathering and lauded the development work under Shri Modi. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and Goa Chief Minister Shri. Manohar Parrikar spoke on the occasion. Other present included National BJP Vice President Shri Purushottam Rupala, Shri Om Mathur, Shri Balbir Punj and Smt. Smriti Irani.
