Gujarat celebrates 64th Republic Day with great pomp and show 

Her Excellency the Governor Dr. Kamla and Honorable Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi present at celebrations in Ahwa, Dang district 

Dignitaries unfurl Tricolour, followed by march past parade and beautiful tableauxs by the various Government departments 

Matter of immense joy that Gujarat is celebrating the 64th Republic Day in a small Panchayat of a Tribal dominated district. This is a first in the history of the nation: Shri Modi

 

On the morning of 26th January 2013 Gujarat celebrated the nation’s 64th Republic Day with great pomp and show. The celebrations were held at Ahwa in Dang district. Her Excellency the Governor of Gujarat Dr. Shrimati Kamla and Honorable Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi graced the function with their august presence.

The Tricolour was unfurled by Her Excellency the Governor Dr. Kamla and this was followed by a grand parade. There was a march past by the police contingents after which there were wonderful tableauxs by various departments of the Gujarat Government. The tableaux included those of Mukhyamantri Amrutam Yojana, Agriculture Department, Narmada, Department of Tribal Development, Urban Development to name a few. There was also a motorcycle show.

Speaking on the sidelines of the function Shri Modi expressed delight at the fact that Gujarat is celebrating the 64th Republic Day in a small Panchayat, Ahwa of a Tribal dominated Dang district. He pointed that this is a first in the history of the nation. He congratulated the Gram Panchayat of Ahwa and added that the celebrations give an indication of their strength.

At the end of the function Shri Modi travelled in an open jeep to greet those who attended the programme. Apart from Her Excellency the Governor and the Honorable Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Shri AK Joti, DGP Shri Chitranjan Singh and several other dignitaries were present at the occasion.
