On 8th March, 2014, the second round of ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ will be organized across the country, at 5.30 pm. Coinciding with the International Women’s Day on 8th March, this round will have Shri Narendra Modi discussing issues of women empowerment, apart from the panel discussions with experts on women-related issues to precede the interactive session with Shri Modi.

A series of unique interactions between Shri Narendra Modi and the people of India, the novel initiative of Chai Pe Charcha connects Shri Narendra Modi to the people of India, through various kinds of digital technologies, and facilitates a discussion that enables Shri Modi to understand the problems they face.

Organized by the Citizens for Accountable Governance in collaboration with Bharatiya Janata Party, the Chai Pe Charcha had its inaugural session held on 12th February, with the theme of ‘Good Governance’, wherein a series of issues - beginning from development concerns to law and order - posed by people from across the country, were addressed by Shri Modi. While the first round had Shri Modi engaging in a live, constructive dialogue with the people of India across 1000 tea stalls in 300 cities, the second round will be organized at more than 1500 locations, in 500 plus cities.

India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives.

“Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat. We would have extensive deliberations on various subjects relating to governance. His wisdom and humility were always visible.

In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji, his friends and countless admirers. Om Shanti."
