On the evening of Saturday 19th January 2013 Shri Narendra Modi addressed the 4th convocation ceremony of the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. The Chief Minister congratulated the students who received their degrees and wished them the very best for their future. He asked the students to go out with the determination to serve society. The Honorable Chief Justice of India Shri Altamas Kabir was present at the occasion.
Shri Modi stated that GNLU is now completing a decade and that it has created a new ray of hope among students and legal circles. “After 10 years, I can say we are going ahead in the right direction. I am sure students who have passed out of here are being appreciated for their work and that is when they remember the university.”
Talking to the students about the student life the Chief Minister opined, “There is a different joy of student life. When you go out, life brings various questions and that is when our Shiksha and Diksha are tested.” He further said, “Till now you had someone to guide you. After this you will not find anyone who will say that. Now what you learnt will guide you. This is the start of life. I am sure your experience here will shape your experience in future and inspire you.” The Chief Minister avowed that without a Guru decisions can be tough but if our Shiksha and Diksha is good then we can overcome these challenges.
On a different note, Shri Modi stated that the students must remember each and every person who made their College life for the last few years possible. “Do not think you had the money that’s why you were sent here. Do not only remember your professors, books. Remember the trees under which you sat in thought, remember the place where you had tea at night, remember the Dhobi, the person who ironed your clothes. Life is not made by the money of our fathers but the support of the people,” Shri Modi told the students.
Apart from Honorable Chief Justice Shri Altamas Kabir and Shri Modi, Justice of the Supreme Court of India Shri Anil Dave, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Justice Shri Mohit Shah, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Shri Prakash Tatia, Ministers Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja and Director of GNLU Shri Bimal Patel were present on the occasion.
