The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today paid homage to Shri Balasaheb Thackeray Ji on his Punya Tithi. Shri Modi hailed Shri Thackeray as a visionary who championed the cause of Maharashtra’s development and the empowerment of Marathi people.

In a post on X, he stated:

“I pay homage to the great Balasaheb Thackeray Ji on his Punya Tithi. He was a visionary who championed the cause of Maharashtra’s development and the empowerment of Marathi people. He was a firm believer in enhancing the pride of Indian culture and ethos. His bold voice and unwavering spirit continue to inspire generations.”

“महान बाळासाहेब ठाकरे जी यांच्या पुण्यतिथीनिमित्त मी त्यांना आदरांजली अर्पण करतो. महाराष्ट्राचा विकास आणि मराठी लोकांच्या सक्षमता यासाठी आग्रही असे ते एक द्रष्टे व्यक्तिमत्व होते. भारतीय संस्कृती आणि मूल्यांचे संवर्धन करून त्याविषयीचा अभिमान वृद्धिंगत करण्यावर त्यांचा दृढ विश्वास होता. त्यांचा धीरगंभीर आवाज आणि अढळ ध्येयासक्ती येणाऱ्या पिढयांना कायम प्रेरणा देत राहील.”

PM Modi visits the Indian Arrival Monument

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
