He is passionate about the welfare of farmers and agriculture: PM ModiThe Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana came into being due to the efforts of Venkaiah Naidu Ji: PM Modiપ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ આજે વેંકૈયા નાયડુના ઉપરાષ્ટ્રપતિ પદ પર એક વર્ષ પૂર્ણ થવાના પ્રસંગે તેના સન્માનમાં એક પુસ્તક “મુવિંગ ઓન, મુવિંગ ફોરવર્ડ – અ યર ઇન ઑફીસ”ના વિમોચન સમારોહને સંબોધન કર્યું હતું. તેમણે આ પુસ્તકની પ્રથમ પ્રત ભારતના ઉપરાષ્ટ્રપતિને અર્પણ કરી હતી.
આ પ્રસંગે બોલતા પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ જણાવ્યું કે તેમને અનેક વર્ષોથી શ્રી વેંકૈયા નાયડુ સાથે કામ કરવાની તક મળી છે, શ્રી નાયડુ હંમેશા અન્ય કોઈપણ વસ્તુ કરતા જવાબદારી પર સૌથી વધુ ભાર મુકે છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ જણાવ્યું કે શ્રી વેંકૈયા નાયડુજીએ હંમેશા તેમને જે પણ ફરજ આપવામાં આવી તેને અત્યંત ઉદ્યમશીલતા સાથે નિભાવી છે અને તે ભૂમિકાનો ખૂબ સરળતાથી સ્વીકાર કરી લીધો હતો. તેઓ છેલ્લા 50 વર્ષથી જાહેર જીવનમાં છે – 10 વર્ષ વિદ્યાર્થી રાજકારણમાં અને 40 વર્ષ રાજ્યમાં તેમજ રાષ્ટ્રીય રાજકારણમાં.
શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ જણાવ્યું કે શ્રી વેંકૈયા નાયડુની અંદર તમામ વર્ગના લોકોને પ્રિય બની રહેવાની ક્ષમતા છે સાથે-સાથે તેઓ અનુશાસનવાદી પણ રહ્યાં છે. તેઓને જ્યારે પણ કોઈ જવાબદારી સોંપવામાં આવે છે તો તેઓ દૂરંદેશી નેતૃત્વ પૂરું પાડે છે. પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ ઉમેર્યું કે સોંપવામાં આવેલ કામને પૂરો ન્યાય મળે તે માટે તેઓ શ્રેષ્ઠમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ નિષ્ણાતોની સેવા લે છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ યાદ કરતા જણાવ્યું કે જ્યારે ભૂતપૂર્વ પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી અટલ બિહારી વાજપેયી શ્રી વેંકૈયા નાયડુને મંત્રીમંડળમાં સામેલ કરવા માંગતા હતા ત્યારે વેંકૈયાજીએ તેમને ગ્રામીણ વિકાસનો પોર્ટફોલિયો આપવાની દરખાસ્ત કરી હતી. વેંકૈયાજી હૃદયથી એક ખેડૂત છે અને તેઓ ખેડૂતો અને ખેતીના કલ્યાણ માટે ઉત્સાહી છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ કહ્યું કે પ્રધાનમંત્રી ગ્રામ સડક યોજના શ્રી વેંકૈયા નાયડુના પ્રયત્નોના લીધે જ અમલમાં આવી શકી છે. એક એવા સમયમાં જ્યારે રાજકીય પરિદ્રશ્ય માત્ર ટ્રેનના સ્ટોપેજની આસપાસ જ કેન્દ્રિત હતું ત્યારે નાયડુજીએ એ બાબતની ખાતરી કરી કે નેતાઓ રસ્તાઓ અને જોડાણ માટેના અન્ય સ્વરૂપો વિષે વિચારવાનું શરુ કરે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ ઉપરાષ્ટ્રપતિની તેમના વકતૃત્વ માટે પ્રશંસા કરી પછી તે અંગ્રેજી હોય કે તેલુગુ હોય. તેમણે કહ્યું કે ઉપરાષ્ટ્રપતિએ કચેરીમાં તેમના પ્રથમ વર્ષ દરમિયાન કરેલા કાર્યનું રીપોર્ટ કાર્ડ રજૂ કર્યું, જે પ્રશંસનીય છે અને તેમાં તેમણે સંસદની અંદર અને બહાર કરેલા વસ્તૃત કાર્યોનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.
