NDA Government at Centre is working for development and welfare of the people of India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today held a public meeting in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Addressing the people, Shri Narendra Modi said that it was clear that Tamil Nadu longed for a change in governance and people of the state saw Bharatiya Janata Party as the only alternative to others. Urging people of Tamil Nadu to vote for BJP, Shri Modi said that the party wanted to take the state to newer heights of development.

Shri Narendra Modi expressed concern over the limited job opportunities available to the youth in the region. He stated that tourism could become one of the best alternative to provide job opportunities to the people of Tamil Nadu. He highlighted the need of good infrastructure in the region in order to attract tourists. “Good infrastructure brings more tourists. There was long standing demand for a good road connecting Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram”, said the PM.

PM Modi also talked about the construction of a new port in Kanyakumari with an investment of Rs. 21,000 crore to boost tourism. He said, “Centre is working on creating better connectivity between Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram.”

PM Narendra Modi stated that the state was not able to develop due to extreme levels of corruption. “Till corruption is not eliminated, the fruits of development will not reach the homes of the poor”, he remarked.

The PM said that the upcoming state elections were about protecting Tamil Nadu from the cobweb of corruption. The Prime Minister explained how the various initiatives of the government including the elimination of interviews for class 3 and class 4 jobs had helped reduce corruption and leakages.

The PM spoke about 2G spectrum scam and he mentioned how it involved leaders from prominent parties. "On one hand in last 2 years there has been no single allegation of corruption against the NDA Government", he added.
