Talcher fertilizer plant will be ready in 36 months, I will come again then, says PM Modi in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a public meeting in Odisha’s Talcher. Thanking the people of Odisha for attending the rally in large numbers, the PM said that the huge crowd portrayed the sentiments of the people of the state.

Assuring the people of the state that the construction work of Talcher Fetilizer Plant would be completed on time, PM Modi remarked, “When BJP government came to power at the Centre, the work on fertilizer plants picked up speed. I assure you that the construction of Talcher Fertilizer Plant will be completed in 36 months and I will again come here to inaugurate it.”.

Taking a jibe at the Congress party, PM Modi said, “I am left stunned when I think about how such fertilizer plants have been promised for years, but no actual work has taken place. You might remember, we had a PM in the country who had said that if Rupee 1 is sent from Delhi, then just 15 paisa reaches the states. Such thievery continued for years. However, our government is making sure that whatever money is allotted, all of it reaches the people.”

Focusing on Swachh Bharat, Prime Minister urged Odisha Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik to give priority to Centre’s cleanliness drive. “I had previously urged Naveen Babu that Odisha will be left behind in cleanliness. But today, when I have come here, I again urge him to give priority to cleanliness in Odisha for the health of the people here,” said PM Modi.

The PM also spoke about the opening of five new medical colleges in the state. He said that the five medical colleges would come up in Balasore, Baripada, Lingangi, Koraput and Puri and about Rs 570 crores were being provided for medical college in Rourkela.

Emphasizing on Ayushman Bharat, PM Modi said that the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana would not only strengthen the health infrastructure in the country but also prove to be a boon for 10 crore poor families. He added that they would be given health assurance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per year for the treatment of critical illnesses.

The Prime Minister shed light on the extensive work being done by the Centre towards ‘Housing for All’. “Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, there has been an increase of more than 40% in the houses built in Odisha. In the last 4 years, the approval has been given for the construction of nearly 10 lakh houses in the state under the Central Government’s scheme,” the PM said.

Speaking about the OBC Commission, PM Modi said that it was the NDA government which gave constitutional status to the commission. Expounding about the matter of Triple Talaq, he said, “The Central Government took a decision that was needed since decades. The decision was on Triple Talaq. No one was ready to even talk about it due to the fear of losing votes. Now, it has been declared illegal.”
