Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today received the Foreign Minister of France, Mr Laurent Fabius. Prime Minister strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and conveyed his deepest condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the attacks.
Prime Minister reiterated the importance that India attached to strategic partnership with France. He recalled that his visit to France earlier this year has provided new vigour and momentum to the bilateral relations.
Prime Minister expressed hope for a positive outcome from the forthcoming COP-21 Summit that was equitable, balanced and guided by the principles and provisions of the UNFCC, especially the principle of common but differentiated responsibility and respective capabilities. It should also provide for enhanced technological, financial and capacity building support to the developing and Small Island Developing countries to enable them to take even more ambitious climate action. Prime Minister said that he looked forward to launch the International Solar Alliance along with the French President and other leaders during the COP 21 Summit.
The Foreign Minister of France appreciated the INDCs declared by India and stated that India would play an important role in the success of the COP 21 Summit.
