Top Saudi honour to PM another global recognition of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and inclusive development effort of Modi government

The Bharatiya Janata Party congratulates Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on being conferred Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honour, Sash of King Abdulaziz Sash (Special Class). The Award is conferred by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This is a special honour conferred by Saudi Arabia to PM Narendra Modi.

Commenting on this honour being conferred on the Prime Minister, BJP National President Amit Shah said, “This is a matter of pride for the entire nation. It illustrates the fact that the guiding principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ has resonated all over the world and is being widely appreciated.”

The BJP President added, “The fact that Saudi Arabia has conferred this award is worth taking note of. Saudi Arabia is a very important nation in the geo-politics of the world and home to the holiest Islamic pilgrim centres. The importance of Saudi Arabia in the world’s cultural milieu is immense.”

Shri Amit Shah termed this award as one more fitting recognition for the progressive and dynamic foreign policy of the NDA government under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s Saudi Arabia visit Shri Amit Shah noted, “It was a historical visit with historical outcomes. Comprehensive discussions on broadening economic and people-to-people ties will benefit not only India and Saudi Arabia but also the entire world.” Shri Amit Shah recalled the historical trade ties between Saudi Arabia and India and expressed confidence that the economic partnership between the two nations will grow even more.

Appreciating the overall foreign policy of the NDA government, Shri Amit Shah affirmed, “Under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, the NDA government’s foreign policy has led to record foreign investment coming to India and enhanced India’s prestige on the world stage. Relations with existing friends have significantly improved and at the same time avenues of cooperation with other regions and nations have been accelerated at a historical pace. At the same time, India has risen to the occasion and helped every Indian in duress be it in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen to name a few.”

The Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia also illustrates the importance the PM personally attaches to relations with the West Asia. So many Indians live and work there. This time the Prime Minister visited L&T Workers’ Residential Complex where he shared snacks with the workers. This gesture has been uniformly hailed. He raised the issue of Indians serving sentences for minor offences and the Saudi Government has agreed to look at these cases sympathetically and constitute a review mechanism with immediate effect.

It may be recalled that during his UAE visit in August the Prime Minister met Indian workers and visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Shri Narendra Modi has always believed that India’s diversity and harmony is India’s strength and will make India the leading economic superpower of the 21st century.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi earlier today chaired the meeting of the 45th edition of PRAGATI, the ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Centre and State governments.

In the meeting, eight significant projects were reviewed, which included six Metro Projects of Urban Transport and one project each relating to Road connectivity and Thermal power. The combined cost of these projects, spread across different States/UTs, is more than Rs. 1 lakh crore.

Prime Minister stressed that all government officials, both at the Central and State levels, must recognize that project delays not only escalate costs but also hinder the public from receiving the intended benefits.

During the interaction, Prime Minister also reviewed Public Grievances related to the Banking & Insurance Sector. While Prime Minister noted the reduction in the time taken for disposal, he also emphasized on the quality of disposal of the grievances.

Considering more and more cities are coming up with Metro Projects as one of the preferred public transport systems, Prime Minister advised conducting workshops for experience sharing for cities where projects are under implementation or in the pipeline, to capture the best practices and learnings from experiences.

During the review, Prime Minister stressed on the importance of timely Rehabilitation and Resettlement of Project Affected Families during implementation of projects. He further asked to ensure ease of living for such families by providing quality amenities at the new place.

PM also reviewed PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He directed to enhance the capacity of installations of Rooftops in the States/UTs by developing a quality vendor ecosystem. He further directed to reduce the time required in the process, starting from demand generation to operationalization of rooftop solar. He further directed states to adopt a saturation approach for villages, towns and cities in a phased manner.

Up to the 45th edition of PRAGATI meetings, 363 projects having a total cost of around Rs. 19.12 lakh crore have been reviewed.
