PM Modi invites UK PM Keir Starmer for a visit to India

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received Rt Hon David Lammy, Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, today. PM congratulated Mr. Lammy on his appointment and appreciated his initiative in visiting India within the first month of the UK Government formation.

PM Modi recalled his recent conversation with the UK PM Sir Keir Starmer and appreciated priority accorded by the new UK Government to broaden and deepen the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. PM reiterated the commitment to work together to further elevate the bilateral ties.

FS David Lammy also expressed UK’s keen desire to realize the full potential of the bilateral relationship, including in the areas of economy, investment, defense, security, critical and emerging technologies and climate change.

PM Modi welcomed the understanding reached between the two sides to launch a Technology Security Initiative focussed on new and emerging technologies, and the shared desire to work towards the early conclusion of a mutually beneficial India-UK Free Trade Agreement.

The leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.

PM conveyed warm greetings to UK PM Sir Keir Starmer and extended him invitation for him a visit to India at his earliest convenience.
