Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed two major public meetings in Shahdol and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. PM Modi began his address in Shahdol by applauding the Madhya Pradesh government led by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan for working tirelessly for the benefit of the people and for empowering their lives. He added that the upcoming Assembly election is not going to be about who wins and who loses the election rather it is going to decide who gets elected to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh and ensure the development of its people.

PM Modi also reiterated his previous statement made at a rally in Chhattisgarh earlier in the day about the Congress party working for its own interests for almost four generations and totally sidelining the interests of the people of the country. He said that, “Despite Indira Gandhi nationalizing Indian banks in the name of ‘Garibi Hatao’ (Eliminate Poverty), it is for everyone to see that this did not eliminate poverty or gave the poor people access to banks. It did quite the opposite and the doors of banks remained inaccessible to the poor people of my country.”

Later in the evening Prime Minister Modi addressed another rally in Gwalior where he asserted that no matter how much Congress criticizes or abuses him, his fight against corruption will not end until what has been looted for years from the poor people of India gets back to them. He reminded the people about the mistreatment levelled upon veteran leaders like Rajmata Scindia and Kushabhau Thakre by the Congress during the Emergency of 1971. He said, “Congress must answer why during the time of Emergency, Rajmata Ji was jailed for such a long time?”

PM Modi further lashed out at the Congress for making Madhya Pradesh a ‘BIMARU’ state during 55 years of its rule in the country and contrasted it with the 15 years rule of the BJP government led by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan which has transformed the meaning of MP to ‘Maximum Progress’ today. Concluding his power-packed address, PM Modi came down heavily on the Congress for putting up different Chief Ministerial candidates for different regions of Madhya Pradesh. He said, “The Congress speaks 8 different languages in 8 different places; wherever they go in MP, they say a different name for the post of Chief Minister. It is a pity that Congress is roaming around with 8 Chief Ministerial candidates in one state.”

Both the events were marked by the presence of several senior party leaders and hundreds of Karyakartas and supporters.
