Addressing a massive Kisan Kalyan Rally in Malout, Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched scathing attack at the Congress party and held them responsible for not thinking about welfare of farmers. He alleged that for 70 years, the Congress party thought only about its own welfare, betrayed the farmers and used them as a vote bank.

The Prime Minister asserted that the NDA Government was committed to welfare of farmers and hence it fulfilled the promise regarding the Minimum Support Price and approved historic increase of 1.5 times in the MSP for kharif crops. Shri Modi said that the move would significantly add to farmers’ income and empower them. He also slammed the Congress for spreading lies and rumours regarding MSP.

The Prime Minister expounded several farmer friendly measures being undertaken by the Centre like 100 per cent neem coating of urea, Kisan Sampada Yojana and e-NAM.

He also highlighted how initiatives like Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Mudra Yojana and Fasal Bima Yojana were empowering the farmers.

PM Modi visits the Indian Arrival Monument

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
